Photoscanning → Point Clouds:
TouchDesigner Workflow
Facilitated by:
Alice Aterman
Session: November 6th, 2025 • 6pm – 10pm
$60 — Limited to 10 spots
Language of instruction: English
Learn the complete workflow for transforming real-world objects and environments scanned from your phone into animated 3D point clouds.
We’ll begin by capturing and processing scans of both small objects and larger environments, learning effective techniques for exporting and cleaning models. Then we’ll import 3D scans into TouchDesigner, and render models as point cloud or Gaussian splat visualizations. From an expansive artistic and technical approach, you’ll gain hands-on experience with animation (with and without audio), camera setup, and rendering workflows.
By the end of the session, each participant will render and export a short point cloud video in .mp4 format, ready to share or integrate into their own multimedia projects.
Workshop Objectives
- Understand the fundamentals of photo scanning objects and environments
- Learn workflows for exporting and preparing scans for use in TouchDesigner
- Explore techniques for point cloud visualization and Gaussian splats
- Gain practical methods for animating point clouds, with or without audio
- Learn how to render and export finished videos from TouchDesigner
Workshop Requirements

Alice Aterman is a digital multimedia artist based in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke. Inspired by urban grunge, surrealism, and light dynamics, her visuals aim to transport observers to alluring yet uncanny dimensions. Using 3D animation (Blender) as her primary medium, Alice’s work blends digital and physical realms, spanning from concert visuals and 3D animated event flyers to mixed-reality VFX, AR, and VR.
Alice also creates immersive, audio-reactive experiences where sound shapes the visual narrative. Using tools like TouchDesigner and Resolume, she designs real-time visuals that pulse, glitch, and evolve with music. Her practice extends into VR—during her CO/CREATE 2024 residency at World Creation Studio, she built immersive Unreal Engine worlds exploring the theme of postreality through audio reactivity. She has also led a workshop series on audio-reactive visuals at World Creation Studio and continues to produce large-scale visual work for events including Nocturnes du MAC 2025 and MUTEK Montréal 2025.
